I can’t understand why the pi foundation persist with using SD as the only physically practical storage option.

They’re looking post the point of needing a way to snap on reliable EMMC storage, as a default, in a way that doesn’t leave a cable or something permanently plugged into a USB port.

Sure, USB is a fine option, but I hate that it’s only an option and not a designed default.

Most of us only need 8GB or so for the OS, 8GB or good quality durable EMMC should hardly cost anything.

Other tiny computers and even economy notebooks and Chromebooks already use this.

Was thinking the exact same thing. If I were Texas I’d put it the call for cheap buses that are save enough for the trip and just take them one way. This is a shit show, the people need help but it shouldn’t fall on one state.

The power that major tech companies weild combined with the addiction the vast majority of the population have to their products is telling me otherwise.

If anything things have gotten worse. Used to have 6 different supermarket bands in my town, but despite population booming we’re now stuck with a duopoly that has 6 shops between them (Coles / Woolworths) and 1 minor left over (Aldi).

That’s what I’m seeing as a 40+ Aussie that’s lived in the same town all that time.

I remember being tossed in the deep end when the mods were new to me. Having to diagnose and treat gunshot wounds, inject morphine, run fluids etc… even CPR, certain medics could do transfusions, match blood types etc.

Was kinda frightening for a PC game… And often all of this was under enemy fire.

The enemy would be injured, shot, concussed, knocked unconscious, lose blood etc. the potential existed for them to regain consciousness after a while and if you hadn’t removed their weapons they could fire in you. Surprised the shit out of people not used to these mods… Always had to check downed hostiles.

Sweden had mandatory conscription from 1901 through to the cold war. About 85% of men were conscripted.

The situation had changed more recently to a national service system.

All those who do combat or combat related service are issued an AK 4 (Swedish production of the H&K G3) rifle, or the more modern AK 5 based on the Belgian FN FNC.

Both of these are far superior ‘killing machines’ than a semi auto AR-15. The newer AR5 will even run the same magazines as the AR15,

On completion of service the option is given to keep the rifle.

The government provides ammunition and access to training facilities so as people can remain proficient with their rifle.

More recently the keeping of ammunition at home has been banned but there is no doubt already millions of rounds in the wild. This law has preparations to be lifted rapidly if required for an emerging security crisis.

Their new national service system now provides options for logistics and medical for those that don’t want to pickup a firearm. Pretty good idea I think.

The US pro gun people are in denial about the issue, and the US anti gun people are equally in denial about the true issues and facts, so much so that their cause is suffering for it.

I’m concerned about guns… But I’m not stupid.

It’s particularly good at that, I won’t deny, but so many other factors exist too. It’s affordability, it’s availability are also issues.

There are better choices for killing… They just cost more and or have limited availability.

The Kriss Vector or MP5 would be a great tool at short to intermediate range. A lot less cumbersome than an AR.
