The wizards hunted dragons to extinction because their wings made good spell components and they want to dodge responsibility for it.
Its ugly, but it’s true.
I may or may not be any number of unfathomable beings.
Account migration from @skulblaka@startrek.website after learning the admins of that instance are wankers.

Very well explained, thank you. I keep forgetting, and am occasionally reminded, that just below the basic math I’m familiar with is a whole other level of advanced math, and just below that is the screaming void.
The article states nothing about this and has no images implying it.
I was going to say this already after reading, but getting to your last couple lines really reinforced it - hey, you’re good people, thanks for weighing in where you do. I see quite a lot of your posts in my daily browsing and they’re almost exclusively all long-form well thought out responses like this one. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you have a bad take about anything. I greatly respect your life experience and your opinions, they mirror a lot of what I’ve seen myself in the world as a generally curious soul.
Just wanted to say that. I’ve scrolled past enough of your comments where I wanted to add a quick “hey, thanks for this” but it wouldn’t add anything to the conversation. This time is no different except that I’ve reached a limit of not acknowledging it out loud where I’m starting to feel bad every time I do so. Thank you for your contributions to our communities.
We’ll probably never meet, but if we did, I think I’d like to buy you a beer.
Uh, Russia will be too broke to continue funding their war offensive in Ukraine, and then if they try to continue it anyway they’ll be too broke to continue functioning as a nation. That’s kind of the point of sanctions. Did you read the article?
Payment scuffles between Russian companies and Chinese banks have escalated in recent weeks, with nearly all Chinese banks stopping transactions with Russia. Some banks have even returned payments for goods that had already been sent to Russia, out of fear of being targeted by sanctions, a Russian media outlet reported.
Drop the war, investors return, everyone is happy. If they want to continue the war they better start checking their couch cushions for rubles. That’s what the sanctions are for, that’s what they do. It’s a lever to pull to convince Putin to back off his warmongering without resorting to direct violence against Moscow and, undoubtedly, innocents caught up in it.
Sure, when you’ve got the societal and material advantage. Go 1v1 a cow out in a field and you might change your mind. Those things are up to 2,000 pounds of brick shithouse. You might not kill one if you hit it with your car.
China is pulling all their funding from Russia due to sanctions. That’s the article we’re in the comments of.
Dropping the demand for rentals is supposed to address this. But there is going to be a great big gap between “no one is renting” and “we can’t afford to keep this house that no one is renting” where the prices will skyrocket to try and make up costs, which kind of shoots this plan in the foot unless all the newly emancipated renters plan to pitch a tent for a couple years while the market settles.
Came here to say this. Expanse hits the notes of “real people actually live on this ship/station” way more than any other sci-fi I’ve consumed. Fast food, bars, brothels, restrooms, storage and maintenance areas, all of these are specifically called out at most stations.
I don’t think most folks have cared about WoW for quite a while now. Those that do are mostly playing on private servers.
FFXIV has picked up all the old wow-heads and is highly active and fun to play.
I get your point but i wouldnt try to install an HVAC system or try to drive a car without a drivers license.
You would if you knew nothing about them, and the manufacturing company insists that you can safely and easily use the product with no training.
I haven’t watched Ice Age in twenty years but if you put it on the TV I bet I could quote every line from it. My mom loved that movie when we saw it in theater so we got it on DVD, then we must have watched it a hundred times after that. It was her favorite movie by far.
We also watched a good bit of Madagascar when that one came out but Ice Age was the enduring classic.
I didn’t have that one, but I did somehow have an episode of the Super Mario Bros Super Show on VHS. Just one episode though. No fuckin’ idea where it could possibly have come from. But my only other two tapes were Lady and the Tramp, and The Aristocats so 5-7 year old me watched a lot of the Bros. After a while there was a whole several minutes near the middle that was just static and gibberish because the tape was damaged, from a combination of overuse and being handled by a five year old.
Am I the only person that thinks this really isn’t bad at all? I like the style. I have seen some absolutely wack haircuts in my time and this one, I think this one is not only not bad, but is actually good.
Well it’s either that or everyone dies. Pretty much the only options we’ve got. So, this may sound callous, but, that sucks.
For what it’s worth, I fix combustion engines for a living. I would likely be one of the displaced workers, maybe not the first wave, but it will trickle down. I’m not looking forward to the near necessity that I will need to adapt, but I understand what is required for the collective survival of the human race. If I were put out of a job because people have stopped driving ICE vehicles, I’d be thrilled. My monthly bills may not be, but that’s a problem I’m prepared to tackle.
Our current trajectory will get us all killed. There’s no question about it anymore. We are at a crossroads where we can choose to adapt or die and we are rapidly running out of time to choose. Those who cannot adapt will get left behind or else we’ll all go down together.
He was a high level cleric, obviously.
In Cyberpunk 2077 we already have Captain Caliente which is basically exactly this, lmao
This comment section reads like a game of Pictionary lmao
I feel like that might be difficult to do without just falling into Jupiter, but I am no rocket scientist.
