You shouldn’t host an instance that should take on Meta and X. You should be part of the Fediverse, which can more realistically take on Meta and X.
I am the administrator of “What the Fediverse”, which includes:

True, an official mobile app is in the works. Will probably release at the end of the year. We also need more “general” PeerTube instances.
This is all true, but they would still have to say goodbye to the ad revenue from YouTube. However little that might be.
The administrator can enable this on their instance. It is not enabled by default.
I’ve this enabled on my instance peertube.wtf
Who needs to improve exactly? The PeerTube software or the instances hosting PeerTube?
You shouldn’t host a Lemmy instance if it’s dependent on donations on day one.
You can use donations to offset your expenses, but you should be able to pay those expenses yourself, regardless of donations.
If you suddenly can’t afford to run your instance, because a lack of donations, you scaled too far beyond your own means.
Start filming stuff and put it on PT.
It does have a “full platform wide search”.
Don’t be silly. Tom Hanks have no idea how to use Photoshop…
Either way, celebrities will probably never use Lemmy or other social media unless it goes mainstream.
What timeline is this?
I use iCloud and Sia.
Well actually the cloud is just another computer, which in fact is what you would have to use if using SyncThing 🤓🤓🤓
There’s plenty of official stores on Ali and a rule of thumb is to stay away from “no name” products and products that are obvious copies of other brands.
I use Sia for this. It is essentially what you describe, but with a monetary system.
I rent out some of my storage, and use the Siacoin earned to buy storage for backups.
Does Reddit have a subreddit for specifically “Reddit-memes”?
I use an Allpower power station, that has build in UPS.
Yea, but voice is pretty borked atm.
One can only hope, but it is still very promising without.
peertube.ca has been registered since last year, but no Peertube instance yet. Perhaps in the future. However, if you check this list https://instances.joinpeertube.org/instances?sort=country&page=1 you will see lots of Canadian instances.
