  • Some sort of journaling really helps when you feel like you have no direction. You can turn back the pages and see what path you took and even identify some ideas or values you want to implement in your life moving forwards. I recommend a notebook instead of a digital notes app.

This is a habit that I formed fairly recently 3-4 years ago I think. Initially I was writing down on smaller notepads which tend to get filled up quickly. Now I use a dotted notebook, so that I can draw something if I need to (although unruled notebooks also work)

Don’t obsess over decorating it like the bullet journal folks do on YouTube/Instagram and if you are thinking of using apps like obsidian or logseq - don’t go too far down the rabbit hole , just write down something instead.

You can have something like tasks.org for todos (organize your day) and a physical notebook to develop a vision (get some direction in your life)

  • I wish there was an active philosophy community on lemmy. I kinda miss r/Askphilosophy and r/askhistorians.

And to answer your question -

I don’t really know. I guess people belive in souls so as to eternalize themselves and thereby reducing their fear of death, knowing that their soul will be out somewhere instead of the idea that they will return to a state of nothing.

  • I don’t seem to recollect any movie at the moment but here are some TV shows or anime -

    1. Mr. Robot - one of my favourite TV shows, most people using lemmy might have already watched it.

    2. Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu - its about a very lonely middleschool kid’s romance

    3. Koe no Katachi - very popular anime movie. Also one of my favourites.

    4. Bocchi the Rock - Anime about an extremly introverted girl wanting to play guitar in a highschool band.

    5. Re-Life - its an anime about a grown up guy getting a chance to re-live his high-school days as part of a experiment or something like that. It was pretty good.

    6. Lookism - its a Manhwa, but also has an anime. Basically the main character gets 2 bodies mysteriously. The original body is the ugly one which people bully him for and the second body is like that of a (male) kpop artist which people view differently.

    7. Death’s game - it’s a kdrama I recently watched. Although it doesn’t exactly fit in with the theme of ‘lonlieness’ I thought I’d mention it.

P.S - some shows I mentioned here might not be as loneliness inducing as you think.
