Yeah why need a 3rd party client if Qt works on all platforms too…
Yes this is really wtf.
Linux even has a webview. KDE has QtWebengine, GNOME has WebkitGTK.
There also is Tauri, which seems to be a way better solution.
I rely on 4 Electron apps and hate it.
(Signal, MullvadVPN, Nextcloud, FreeTube)
I am pretty certain those are the reason why my RAM use is to huge, 6GB with no open apps!
ChromeOS is so nice because all these optimized apps simply really run in the same browser. Android the same.
I think Windows (and MacOS?)are also pretty good there… because they have marketshare.
But well, did you know Office 365 for Mac is 5,2GB???
Yes ok, so that is kinda fine.
The app is still huge. And using separate accounts is probably a workflowbreaker for many.
But good that at least that works kinda :)
Hmm have to check that again.
I really like SimpleX on Android, it is a good and often way better Signal replacement.
Shitlord is surprisingly common
Damn what happened with Oxygen²? Saw that when searching for Akademy
Looks amazing! But the tab could be connected to the page, I agree
Yeah no issues either really. Pipewire has had more than Wayland for me.
Yeah, portals and all. But I just use modern applications, and am kinda lucky that the only Electron app I need with that feature (Signal Desktop) supports it.
I keep a list of those apps, feel free to contribute!

Btw, XWayland is a huge part. I force nearly all apps through Wayland now, and already had some major issues. I switched from VLC to Celluloid for that (never regret that)
On a mutable distro this should work. Good point!
Did you follow the official distrobox guide? With a rootful box, creating a session entry etc?
Badass. Biggest issue is the lack of Plasma 6
And now I am replying back, just like that!
Nobody talked about Calyx, but yeah, Fairphone is the worst XD
Others like /e/OS are similar to Fairphone (it runs on Fairphones)
I also dont think you give Google a lot of money when just leeching on their services with lots of fake accounts.
I use Youtube with adblock / custom apps since 6 years or something, so that should be equal to the market value I gave their phones on the used market
The phones are good. Yes it is a lot of money, and they do silly stuff with these phones, like removing everything or using glass everywhere
I just buy used. Way cheaper, never gonna pay more than for my Laptop
Their hardware requirements are pretty clear. Samsung is the only one with comparably secure devices, but they use nonstandard tools like Odin and lock down many security features to the stock OS only.
Other companies are supposedly not making anything as secure.

Also, only Google can really ship updates that quickly and fully, as Android is literally their OS. They are also a huge company, so yeah they have way more resources than a random other company you might prefer.
Example Fairphone, which has horrible update schedules
Yes but that is accessible via balooctl
or from the gui.
balooctl disable
I had very bad experiences too, without using network shares or anything. It shouldnt even scan the system, or hidden files. Maybe it scanned random libraries or distrobox containers or flatpak dependencies or whatever
Interesting, ok
Oopsie
Everything after 3 words is not read XD
Great work!
I am really excited to try it out!
