What an utter wank clown.
Challenge Defeatism. Resist Doomerism
What an utter wank clown.
Maybe, maybe not. Without clear evidence it’s all supposition. All we know is that, whilst people may not believe it, their actions are effective.
Sure, it’s not a great look I concur
however we’re talking about 2% of their overall funding in 2023:
https://time.com/6334072/just-stop-oil-climate-change-activist-group/
I’d argue that money from a climate fund that was cofounded by the daughter of a oil baron (who appears to be something of a environmental activist), whilst not ideal is a fair way removed from the idea that they are funded by the petrol companies as agent provocateurs.
Also, as I linked the evidence suggest they work, so if the likes of Esso are funding them it’s not their greatest work. Who knows. I believe they get a bad wrap. If anything I imagine it’s more likely the petrol companies are the ones pushing the negative narratives around groups like JSO to try and mute their effectiveness and turn the public against them.
I mean, sure, but again the evidence suggest otherwise: https://www.apollosurveys.org/social-change-and-protests/
And as the articles I originally linked above shows the general public may think otherwise, which is understandable.
Evidence suggests that disruptive protests actually help, rather than hinder organisations like JSO:
It’s all about raising awareness and facilitating discussions.
We got greedy and people didn’t like it.
Hype. I wonder if the 40k stuff is in any way linked with the guy who did the Astartes series on YouTube?
Negative news has a greater impact on people than positive: https://assets.csom.umn.edu/assets/71516.pdf
Media sites know this, and use it to drive engagement:

And so, negative headlines are getting worse: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0276367
But negative news is addictive and psychologically damaging: https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/why-we-worry/202009/the-psychological-impact-negative-news
So it’s important to try and stay positive:

If you want a break from the constant negativity, here are some sites that report specifically on positive news:
Remember, realistic optimism is important and, unlike what some might have you believe, is not the same as blissful ignorance or ‘burying your head in the sand’: https://www.learning-mind.com/realistic-optimism-blind-positivity/

Disruptive protests help activists causes:
This is for EU countries only. UK details here: https://www.stopkillinggames.com/countries/united_kingdom if anyone’s interested
That would be pretty damn good, actually.
I’ve got to say that of all the games I expected to be remastered The Thing was not one of them. An unexpected surprise, but a welcome one.
Looks interesting. Reminds me of Stranger Things meets Life is Strange.
Deck Nine are a source of genuine disappointment for me. I was really impressed by their LiS output and thoroughly enjoyed True Colours. And then this happened: https://www.ign.com/articles/how-hidden-nazi-symbols-were-the-tip-of-a-toxic-iceberg-at-life-is-strange-developer-deck-nine
Let’s push for surgical equipment to be made more environmentally friendly, rather than dismiss a global iniative to reduce plastics

Also, sterilisation isn’t dependent on the equipment being made of plastics

More details here, although finding out which countries pushed back is tricky:
