help-circle

  • Hell no.

Are you u all living in rosy mc Rosewood Santa’s little safe harbour everything is fine and dandy rainbow world? Or are you all lying through your teeth?

Letting someone in your home with clearly visible psychological issues, in your circle of trust, filled with those you hold most dearly and packed with your dearest memories, that place… And then letting someone in you know nothing about?

    Hell fucking no.

In the real world letting some rando homeless dude in your home has a 50/50 chance of ending up in crazy town. There is a high probability that you, yours or your stuff get fucked up. I cannot and will not accept those odds. Even a 2% chance of shit happening is a risk I’m unwilling to take when it comes to my kids.

Would I help him? Maybe. It depends on some factors (like can I at that specific time, did I help him out earlier, do I have cash on hand) Would I let him in? No f-ing way.

So real answer: money: maybe, eat & drink: anytime. Clothes: I’ve got some you can have, no problem. Bath and clean: nope. Never.

  • Just watch that xkcd graphic my dude. Somebody else already linked it. It makes the issue very clear and is quite scientifically based.

Yes, everything you said is factually true. That doesn’t mean your interpreting it all correctly. We not just accelerated it, we where strolling along the path of planetary heating and then decided to step aboard the Starship Enterprise and screamed: “MR SULU WARP FACTOR NINE, STAT!”

We’re fucking with systems (planetary weather patterns) we can’t comprehend. And to solve it we again fuck with that system but now not by adding energy (heat) but by removing energy from it (wind, radiation)

I think both will have issues. But for now removing lots and lots of energy from the system will greatly benefit us.

In the end it will always come down to population control or going interplanetary as a species.

More people on this planet, in this system will always mean more heat. Remove the excess from the system and it will find its equilibrium again.

But… Removing the excess sounds nice but isn’t. Especially when you are deemed to be the excessive one.

You want to know where global warming can lead to? Look no further then Venus.

Hold up, hold up. “on linux such a thing doesnt exist” is a very bold statement for something containing millions of lines of code.

There where and will be more then enough zero days in Linux, be it because of malice or incompetence.

Open source doesn’t say anything about the quality of the code.

Ever heard of log4j? Open source code…

  • For reasons unknown this reaction was placed wrongly. My client fucked up.

It is in response to https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/u/SnotFlickerman

    @SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone

What are you saying? Age discrimination is ok? Older people are too expensive? This is a made up problem?

Or are you saying this is ok because it has been happening for decades and it shouldn’t change because it has been going on forever ?

    I don’t get it.

Discrimination is bad, m’kay? Against white, yellow, black, red, old, young, man, women, trans and everything in between I forgot. It all shouldn’t matter. Especially in the corporate world.

It’s bullshit. If someone does a good job there is no reason to fire them. If it’s true then i say to this guy : good for you. Make 'em pay.

  • If you watch, binge, all seasons se08 becomes more logical. There are small markers all over the series predicting it all. I didn’t pickup those at first (weekly) watch.

I say more logical, not logical.

Se01-se06 are still TV magic. Se07 (dany’s attack on the lannister convoy comes to mind) still is good and se08 just speed runs everything.

I still think that was their only true mistake: speed running the season. It gave us everything we wanted. But in such a way nobody could enjoy it all. Jaime finally becoming true good only to return to his true love? (some very powerful acting there) Check. The long night? Check. End of the night king? Check. Ice dragon? Check. Arya voyage finally given meaning? Check. Jorahs redemption? Check. Cleganebowl? Check. Cersei dies? Check. Return of the mad king queen? Check. Theon’s redemption? Check. Destruction of kings landing? Check. Etc etc etc. It ticks all the boxes and more you didn’t even know they existed. It’s just that it ticks them in such an insane speed which results in gaps in the storytelling. Gaps of which some are filled if you binge it all but most will not.

Se08 had to be 2 seasons. Season 8, ending with the long night, se09, the fall of the red keep.

Yes, the 2nd dragon had to die for the sake of the story. Missandei had to die to cement Cersei being the baddest cruel bitch and complete dany’s arc to insanity. But like this? That was stuff for an entire episode. Not the final three minutes of one.

  • Not to shit on you (well maybe as little) but the guy has a point.

You want them to not care. Doesn’t that go both ways? If some edgy straight horny teen wants more straight tiddies and less gay in his game, who the fuck cares?

Cause let’s be honest, that’s what we’re talking about here. Teens and desperate 30 year olds.

And don’t you think what you imply is scary?

And with that I mean : “people’s thoughts influence their actions”

    I fucking hope so.

And who are you to tell them what is right and what is wrong?

What hamas did, what started this war, was absolutely unforgivable, horrendous and barbaric. It’s impossible to support that organisation in any way anymore.

What Israel did which led to this over the last 10 years was stupid and very discriminatory. The amount of violence against the palistinian people during the last decade is well documented and inexcusable. Which could only lead to a violent reaction. (illegal settlements, violence against palistinians, discrimination, withholding electricity and water)

The rise to (political) power of hamas was a, self defeating victory. It made the position of the palistinian people worse, not better.

The return of Netanyahu, a convicted criminal if im not mistaken is baffling and unexplainable to any outsider.

The position of the west in this whole mess should at least raise an eye brow of the voters of our democracies.

Israels reaction to hamas’ horrific action is completely out of proportion and the attack on the hospital was very wrong in every way. The amount of “weapons” found there means nothing in a war zone. It’s quite possible that the weapons shown are personal sidearms of wounded palistinian fighters dropped off at the hospital.

The Israeli involvement in Syria seems to be aimed at kicking syria while its down so it stays down. This helps current Israeli military security but it’s very short sighted.

Israeli mossad actions (killings of scientist etc.) abroad (iran, etc.) while understandable from a military standpoint do not further the Israeli cause. Short term it increased Israeli military security but long term it has great repercussions. It eroded the trustworthiness of Israel to SA levels.

Israel is on the stupid path for at least the last decade. Ditto Hamas. Hamas especially should be smarter since they’re clearly the less powerful of the two. Israel should be much smarter then this looking at the history of the Jewish people and their state.

To me it seems nobody really red and understood the koran, the tanakh or the teachings of christ in whichever form.

But they do use those as an excuse to kill each other. Which is weird.

So… Putting this all together I can say nothing. Looking at it from western Europe i see a gigantic mess which can only end in tears and genocide. Nobody is willing to give in, so blood will continue to flow. Until there is none left.

What I can say is: Pax Americana and the European stability will end, somewhere in the next century. While unfortunately for me personally as a European there are very clear markers all around us (if you want to see them, that is) that the current stability/status quo which exist since ww2 will not last.

Israel should take that into account. Plan for a viable future without american and European support. I don’t see that. I only see very short term reactionary policies.

  • Old school left center. We shouldn’t leave anyone behind and help those who can’t help themselves. If they can but they won’t… Well that’s a valid personal choice too but the society shouldn’t shoulder that burden.

Woman’s rights I thought we fixed those but looking at that vid from that Spanish female reporter who got slapped on the ass mid interview I guess there is some work still left to be done there.

Lgbtqi+. If you need that much letters and still can’t come up with a catchy sounding word you’re doing something wrong. But seriously, we’re all equal, be what you are, I’m cool. I do think we’re making this bigger then it really is. We’re overexposing it. Gays have been accepted for a long time in the society. But this focus on all issues be it gender, sexual orientation, transsexualism have resulted in a snap reaction to the other side by a big portion of our societies. I think it’s clear that yes, there’s something there which must be addressed and also yes, the way the “activists” are putting it in the spotlight and are playing the shame game results in an exact opposite reaction. Which results in conflict and bullshit like we’ve seen with ms. Harry Potter. Was it understandable, her pov, knowing what’s she’s been through? Most certainly yes. Is she wrong? Maybe. Possibly. I think so. Was the whole moronic reaction warranted? Most certainly not. Her pov should’ve started a discussion, you know, like grown ups do. What we got instead was a witch hunt, an inquisition. People shouting and a cussing and excluding others.

Wasn’t the whole point of lgtbqi+ inclusion? And how do we accomplish that? By exclusion? That doesn’t seem right. That sounds stupid. That sounds like repeating the same errors.

We live in a global society. We should accept and respect each other. Also the ones we don’t agree with. Sometimes it seems we crave for conflict instead of coexistence. Let’s agree to disagree and move on.

Lastly I firmly believe in decriminalisation of all drugs. Why? We’re fighting a drugs war for as long as I can remember. A part of society craves for this stuff. Be it old school cigarettes, alcohol, narcotics, uppers, downers, etc. I say: let them. Slap a tax on it, regulate it so we’re sure there’s no bullshit in it and let it go.

Bad for health? Looking at our society I see our industry spewing out all kinds of shit, dumping it in the environment. I see insecticides everywhere killing insects and us slowly.

A percentage of society will always be addicted. Legal or illegal. We can’t counter it. But we can counter a lot of the criminal activities surrounding it by legalising it all.

And I would like to add that NO GOVERNMENT EVER has any say about what goes on in one’s body. Abortion is always awful and always leaves a psychological mark. But sometimes it’s necessary.
