After reading the first few paragraphs, I can understand why that site was deprecated by Wikipedia as a source. It’s a very opinionated article.
A lot of legitimate programs do too, from my experience with MacOS. I think people just get desensitized to it and don’t really think about what they’re doing.
Still, hosting costs were the reason for discussing legal liability. Such a server also increases centralization which isn’t ideal.
That doesn’t solve the cost problem. Now all the traffic is going through that intermediate server, and someone has to pay for that.
Small correction: You’ll want to be at the photon sphere, not the event horizon (1.5x the Schwarzschild radius). You can theoretically hover there for an unlimited time, and even escape, as long as you don’t mind the immense acceleration necessary. :)
Yeah I switched to PAYG to lessen the chance of that happening. So far I’ve managed to not accidentally spend $5000 in some dumb way, so it’s basically equivalent to the free tier.

That’s around 2.3x the gravitational binding energy of the Sun, so I assume it would be obliterated, along with all of its planets.
The cargo holds on commercial flights are pressurized and heated. I can’t imagine passengers would take kindly to their luggage being subjected to 0.3x atmospheric pressure at -55°C.
