10 hours agoAs a life long NYC resident I’ve seen my share of great buildings. I went to Trump Tower once, long before 2015. The walls of the lobby were all gold and there was a waterfall. I thought it looked like a giant, golden toilet.

I’m a life long New Yorker who has seen all of his scandals in the local media [he’s been trying to get his name in the papers since the 1980s] Back in the 1990s there was a local satire magazine called Spy. They ridiculed the pompous and Trump was a favorite target. They once wnated to find the cheapest person in the City.
They sent a few dozen rich folks checks for less than $2.00. Personal checks to home addresses. Most threw the checks away, but a few cashed them. The magazine kept sending checks in smaller and smaller amounts.
In the end, only Trump and an arms dealer cashed the last check. 13 cents. $0.13. Not enough to make a phone call.
I’ve literally never heard one good story about him.

On the other hand, keeping track of all of Trump’s lies and scandals is like trying to read Lord of the Rings while watching Avengers Endgame and listening to an audio book of Game of Thrones at the same time.

This story is from when Trump was putting up Trump Tower. The biggest scandal that he used illegal immigrants to demolish the original building. He ended up havign to pay them over $1 million for the abuses.
The part of the story that made him anathema to the Manhattan elites was that he destroyed the building after promising to preserve it. It was considered one of the loveliest buildings in the city.

Or organization like ISIS will have recruiters. Mr. A shows up in a town, talks with the locals and arranges a few meetings. The locals know who might be receptive. Say Mac is a likely recruit. Angry at the powers that be, not a lot of prospects, ready for some adventure. Mr. A will give him a few tests. Graffiti this building, throw a rock through that window. If Mac does well he gets an offer to visit the big city. Train fare and a few bucks. There he meets others like himself. There’s training and more training. Mac is now part of something big and important.
In a lot of ways it’s not much different from High School ROTC. A sense of belonging and purpose mean a lot to many people.
He was the head of a crime family, the Don. Like Don Corleone in the Godfather. Corleone’s first name was Vito, but he was the Don of the family. Later his son Michael became the new Don.
Imagine the drama of Black Widow spiders who are Lesbians…

I remember the golden age of the DVD Man. That noble soul who had all the latest movies on DVD a day after they opened. Quality ranged from someone recording the movie in the theater with a camcorder to perfect copies taken directly from the source.

Also, if Trump had the brains of a Fredo Corleone he would have realized that none of the kompromat Putin had on him would matter once he was in office. The CIA would swear up and down that it was ‘fake news.’
2·13 days agoMy best guess is that you have to learn how to be a criminal in order to catch criminals.
A cop who investigates burglaries has to know what a lockpick looks like, and the bunco squad has to know about confidence games.
The directive was probably something like “figure out the genetic markers we’d have to look for to identify aberrant humans.” imho
Just remember this : when Mitt Romney called Russia our greatest threat in 2012 the GOP rushed to his defense. A decade later they were openly admiring Putin.

Find a successful club and talk to the people who run it.
Doesn’t have to be related to your particular area; just a club that’s been running a while.
Also, these things take work. I do a bit of work in the groups I belong to, and I see the folks at the top doing way more work.
