I think its better to keep your gateway basic, and run extra services on a separate raspi or similar. Let your router/gateway focus on routing packets.

Openwrt can run Adguard, and as long as your gateway can run docker, you can probably get pihole working.

You have a notebook. On the first page, you put a table of contents. As you fill in pages, you note them down in the table of contents at the start.

When you want to delete a page, instead of erasing the whole page now (there are hundreds free still, why waste the effort), you erase the entry in the table of contents.

Now if someone finds your notebook, according to the table of contents there is no file at page X. But if they were to look through every single page, they would be able to find the page eventually.

This is loosely how file systems work. You can’t really use it to boost storage, the number of pages is finite, and if you need to write a new page, anything not listed in the contents is fair game to be overwritten.

My purely anecdotal opinion, once you get into university and higher education, everyone is a bit autistic and socially stunted. Its almost a prerequisite.

Not sure what the exact law is, but there are noise restrictions after 10pm in my area. So not just domestics, lawnmowers, reving car engines, drumkits etc are all prohibited. That is likely a speed test server within the same data center as your vps, or they have special traffic shaping rules for it.

Try using iperf from your local box to the VPS and see what speeds you get

As others have said, rather than learn a language, solve a problem. Find something that bothers you, and write some code to fix it. The specific language doesn’t matter.

Its kinda similar to learning a spoken language, there is no point learning French if you cant use it in someway.

Because English is half a dozen languages wrapped in a trenchcoat? A lot of the law related words are from French derivations AFAIK?

Domain specific language is found across all realms of society, even firefighters have words or phrases with a specific meaning (back-burning, pumper, appliance, etc). So maybe its not that some areas are lazy, its just that you haven’t been exposed to their more technical side?
