They are? Where? I mod a Community and I’ve never seen anything that isn’t explicitly for Admins that can see them.
I advocate for logical and consistent viewpoints on controversial topics. If you’re looking at my profile, I’ve probably made you mad by doing so.

For my community ( !actual_discussion@lemmy.ca ) I would adore this as long as it’s available to Mods of the community the downvotes are in and Admins of that instance only. It should absolutely not be visible for normal users.
We are hit with downvotes nearly every time we post a new thread on anything even remotely controversial so it would really help us filter out people who simply downvote to bury the thread and contribute nothing whatsoever to the discussion.
If you disagree, we want to know why and discuss that with you. It’s the entire point of our Community.
Heck, we actively made it a rule to not downvote unless the user is not adding to the discussion, and that it should not be used as a disagree button. People generally ignore this, however.
That or just add the moderator option to disable downvotes for Communities. It would be an incredibly handy toggle.
EDIT: For an example as to why it should be implemented, see this post you’re currently viewing where I give reasons, how it’s been impacting us, some alternatives, and people hit the “fuck you” button with zero discussion and that’s all. This is the problem.
A trash heap where it fucking belongs.
There isn’t a thing that you can put ketchup on that a good BBQ sauce or hot sauce isn’t better on. I will die on this hill.
Well. My child is that age and I very much relate to the protagonist. Was not expecting a gut-punch this afternoon.
One of my favorites short sci-fi stories ever.
You are correct. I was dumb. I’ve fixed it now! Thanks for letting me know.
Played the OG version with all the DLC and not the Spacer’s Choice version, so take my comments with that in mind:
PROS:
NEUTRAL:
CONS:
DID YOU FINISH THE GAME?: Yup! And the DLC. Though if you’re playing now, just get the new edition since it fixes the XP progression block that I mention above.
CONCLUSION: While it won’t stick with me for years, it was great while it lasted and I would 100% play more in the series. If you enjoy story and exploration, play this. The only things stopping it from being Fallout-level good was the awful level cap and the lack of content.
Nope. I’m in Canada and it happens here too.
Hey, wake up! The new Clippy skin just dropped!
despite that being a dictionary definition of bigotry
Well, here is the dictionary definition of bigotry.
It fits both Alito and anyone who dislikes his views. I wasn’t aware the definition was so broad but it basically applies to everyone who dislikes anyone else’s view on anything.
There would be no way for them to gain that knowledge. I could believe that they potentially lost their primary language and spoke a mild amount of other languages that they had picked up by osmosis…
But I am doubtful that they would be able to have a full conversation with a native speaker.
There’s no way the human brain could just conjure up a fully functioning secondary language that the person had no exposure to.
Absolutely! It’s the first community I’ve run on Lemmy, so I’ll definitely have to pull from how you post it if that’s okay.
Maybe something like: “If you like Casual Conversation instead of Competitive Ranked conversation, try !casualconversation@lemmy.world !”
Was going to start doing a few topics today, actually. Slept like garbage though so they may be… dumber than standard.
Yeah, it may be hard to set the tone at first without alienating anyone. I’m hoping that I’m up for it.
I’m okay with political and encourage it as long as people have sound reasoning to back it up.
I’ve changed my mind on many political topics after a good discussion!
Yes, I get that. I was finally able to find several news sites reporting the amount of money funnelled to Israel in order to ensure the US has a small foothold in that area of the world. It seems a tad excessive, but politically understandable I suppose. Allies in that region are valuable, but goddamn that’s a lot of money.
I also saw that this most recent payment structure was guaranteed for a certain time frame by Obama. Breaking the agreement off would be breaking treaties and guarantees. Not a great thing to do for America, but what’s going on over there is not exactly a good look. I think that I now agree that Biden should pull aid from Israel.
Again, thank you for the discussion and explanations. It’s nice when people respond instead of just mindlessly downvoting someone who is asking for details.
So… (and again, I’m trying to parse the situation, not attacking so I’m asking all three respondents here the same question so I get a range of replies) Biden has been funding the war specifically and giving Israel weapons? Why? To what end? And please don’t say genocide because that’s not a tangible reward result for Biden or America. If they are doing the above, what do they get from it?
Understandably, they may have done so after WW2 and the creation of Israel to keep a “friendly” state in the region. That part makes sense.

I don’t know if it’s the one you’re thinking of, but this guy does motion comic stuff and makes fun of superheroes:
