pure water at mean atmosphere pressure at sea level if we’re getting technical, but frankly human body temperature varies from 35.5C (95.9F) to 37.5C (99.5F) anyway, and that’s before considering when people are ill, so if we go down that route it falls apart quickly enough that the definition of 100 given above is clearly just as arbitrary

I mean sure, but it theoretically stops people arguing and threatening to try and bring stuff they shouldn’t really be bringing through, as being able to point at that will end a lot of arguments… Equally though, it makes a lot of sense as otherwise you’d have “ah yes this bomb isn’t banned because I’ve switched out a molecule in the explosive for an analogue”

  • Liberalism is just letting people do what they want so long as it doesn’t interfere with letting people doing what they want

    Support gay marriage? That’s liberal.

Support corporations paying people 30¢ per hour for 18h workdays? That’s liberal.

Support people having access to HRT and abortions? That’s liberal.

Support people owning guns? That’s liberal.

Support unrestricted immigration and trade? That’s liberal.

The problem is it doesn’t fit in with the US definition of “left” and “right” - it’s economically far right but socially far left, and most Americans just cannot understand that

  • Yeah even gpt4o couldn’t keep track of encounters, run battles etc. in my case…

I think if you wanted to do it mechanically consistently you’d probably need to integrate it into a vtt where you give it context and potentially fine-tune it to give quest related summaries & gming rather than just “stuff”

  • Yeah, of course it varies place to place but I think for the majority of at least somewhat developed countries and urban areas in less developed countries 50Mbps is a reasonable figure for “normal home internet” - even at 25Mbps you’re looking at 4½ hours for 50GB which is very doable if you leave it going while you’re at work or just in the background over the course of an evening

Edit: I was curious and looked it up. Global average download is around 50-60Mbps and upload is 10-12Mbps.

  • LLMs have a very predictable and consistent approach to grammar, punctuation, style and general cadence which is easily identifiable when compared to human written content. It’s kind of a watermark but it’s one the creators are aware of and are seeking to remove. That means if you want to use LLMs as a writing aid of any sort and want it to read somewhat naturally, you’ll have to either get it to generate bullet points and expand on them yourself, or get it to generate the content then rewrite it word for word in a style you’d write it in.

They’re native to Africa, Europe, West Asia & Central Asia, which covers around 3 billion people

East & South Asia have the Asiatic Honey Bee which is closely related enough that their introduction wouldn’t disrupt the ecosystem as they fill the same niche in the same way

That leaves only around 15% of the global population somewhere European Honey Bees even have potential to become invasive, so it’s a safe bet that they aren’t for most people

  • Thing is a conscience (and any emotions, and feelings in general) is just chemicals affecting electrical signals in the brain… If a ML model such as an LLM uses parameters to affect electrical signals through its nodes then is it on us to say it can’t have a conscience, or feel happy or sad, or even pain?

Sure the inputs and outputs are different, but when you have “real” inputs it’s possible that the training data for “weather = rain” is more downbeat than “weather = sun” so is it reasonable to say that the model gets depressed when it’s raining?

The weightings will change leading to a a change in the electrical signals, which emulates pretty closely what happens in our heads
